Italian-American Folk Medicine Health Practices for All Aspects of Life
- Presenter: Lisa Fazio
A ONE-NIGHT ONLINE PROGRAM
Join clinical herbalist, author, and folkloric witch, Lisa Fazio, for a brand new program focused on Southern Italian folk practices and the Italian-American diaspora—including everyday health practices for all aspects of life. Also called medicina popolare or the “medicine of the people,” Italian folk medicine is more than a healing tradition. It is a way of facilitating the human connection to the sacred.
In this one-night online program, you will:
- Receive a basic understanding of the major elements of Italian folk medicine including its connection to ancient Greek and Roman philosophical tradition, the Mediterranean ecstatic cults, divination, folk Catholicism, and traditional western herbalism.
- Explore plants and herbs used for healing, ritual, ceremony, and protection.
- Discuss some of the most important traditional plants and their treatment methods.
- Understand how this "natural magic” offers us the innovative, adaptive, and regenerative healing skills we need now.
There will be time at the end of the program for Q&A and group discussion.
