MONTHLONG IMMERSION
For students who have completed Foundations of Yoga Therapy, Part 1 & 2, In-Depth Anatomy of Asana, and Practicum Immersion.
- Access and utilize medical research related to the field of Yoga Therapy and create sessions based on this knowledge.
- Understand and describe common manifestations of Western diseases including common symptoms, management, illness trajectories, and contraindications as relevant to the work of a yoga therapist.
- Become familiar with the common medical terminology necessary to understand these conditions and collaborate with other health care providers.
- Understand the influence of familial, social, cultural, and religious conditioning in the medical perspective related to these common illnesses.
- Interface with the Western medical system as a yoga therapist on these issues.
- Create a therapeutic plan for a variety of conditions based on the intake and assessment through the lens of the five koshas—a physical, mental, and energetic approach to viewing an individual, rooted in a yogic system of healing and wholeness.
This course is an on campus program fulfilling 75 hours. These hours are applied toward the 800-hour Professional Yoga Therapist Training Program accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Prerequisites The prerequisite for this module is successful completion of KSIYT Foundations 1, Foundations 2, and In-Depth Anatomy of Asana. KSIYT students who are currently enrolled are also eligible to take this training.
