On Your Feet! Joyful Strategies for Managing Neuropathy
- Presenter: Terry Roth Schaff
- Presenter: Karen Abramson
IMPROVE BALANCE, STRENGTH, AND MOBILITY
There are many reasons you may experience neuropathy in your legs, feet, hands, and fingers, or any other part of you that has appeared to have fallen asleep. It can be a side effect of chemotherapy, diabetes, Parkinson’s, pinched nerves, or aging—and make it challenging to pick up objects or move safely.
Join certified IAYT yoga therapist, Terry Roth Schaff, and qigong and tai chi instructor, Karen Abramson, for a fun program that will wake up your fingers, hands, heels, toes, and any other part of you that has fallen asleep. Terry and Karen, who have been teaching together for over a decade, will help you improve your balance, posture, gait, and develop greater ease in movement.
You will experience:
- Gentle qigong, tai chi, and yoga to improve balance, strength, and mobility
- Fun finger games and foot movements
- Breathing and meditation practices to relieve stress and weariness
- Gait training to help you move with greater ease and confidence
- Cross patterns to synchronize vision, mind, and coordination
- Ways to keep the mind and body awake and avoid adaptation
Return home with a greater understanding of neuropathy and easy-to-remember practices to implement into your everyday life.
NOTE No previous yoga or tai chi experience is required. Yoga teachers and yoga therapists who complete this program are eligible for CEs and nurses may also apply for nursing CEs. Schaff Yoga Therapy’s medical yoga therapy training program has been recognized by the American Nursing Credentialing Center.
